    The wait is officially over because the Do Something Awards are airing tonight! The show is hosted by the lovely yet witty Jane Lynch, and we are very excited for an evening filled with celebration, music, and of course, celebrities.

    The Do Something Awards celebrate five inspiring individuals who are truly making the world a better place and one of them will even win $100,000! There will be LIVE performances from Natasha Bedingfield, Lifehouse and Travie McCoy featuring Bruno Mars. Also, the following celebrities are joining us to honor our five finalists:

    Christina Applegate, Kristen Bell, Matt Bomer, Cat Deeley, Kara Dioguardi, Johnny Galecki, Simon Helberg, Randy Jackson, Thomas Jane, George Lopez, Demi Lovato, AnnaLynne McCord, Alyssa Milano, Holly Robinson Peete, Mira Sorvino, Hannah Teter, and Pete Wentz.

  • LAKERS’ GASOL OBSERVES SPINE SURGERY AT CHILDRENS HOSPITAL LOS ANGELES


    After clinching the world title in game seven, Los Angeles Laker Pau Gasol is setting his sights on another victory: raising awareness and support for pediatric research and medicine at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. On June 24, Gasol donned scrubs—which were special-ordered for his seven-foot frame—and observed a highly complex spinal procedure at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles where Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery, David Skaggs, MD, corrected a 13-year-old patient’s scoliosis.

    Do Something Awards Announces Nominees: Five Young People Who Have Started Nonprofits

    At a star-studded ceremony in New York City's Apollo Theater, DoSomething.org announced the five nominees for the annual Do Something Awards. The awards recognize youth who have made an extraordinary impact in their community, or a community abroad, by starting a nonprofit organization and driving change at a local level. Each of the five nominees will receive a $10,000 grant to fund their nonprofit -- and the winner will receive a $100,000 grant.

    The awards ceremony also highlights celebrities committed to social change. At Monday's event, Peter Buffet, the Backstreet Boys and Art Alexakis were all on hand to perform.

    The awards are given based on public votes. Nominees include: Micaela Connery, a 23-year-old who started a theater company for disabled young people in Connecticut, Jacqueline Murekatete, a 25-year-old New Yorker who survived the Rwandan genocide and created a human rights group, Wilfredo Perez Jr., a 23-year-old who founded a public health program in Haiti, Jessica Posner, a 23-year-old working to erase gender inequality in the slums of Kenya, and Mark Rembert, a 25-year-old working to bring a green jobs to his struggling Ohio community.

  • METRO PUBLIC RELATIONS SUPPORTS ST. JUDE CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL WITH THE LAUNCH OF "ESTRELLAS POR LA VIDA"


    St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital celebrated its inaugural ‘Estrellas por la Vida’ (Stars for Life) Gala on April 6th, 2010 at Club Nokia at LA Live. This gala celebrated a night of hope for children who are battling cancer and other catastrophic diseases. During this special celebration, St. Jude honored Daisy Fuentes, Kenny Ortega and Zoë Saldana for their continuing support and dedication to children’s causes in local communities and around the world. Guests enjoyed an unforgettable star-studded evening, as well as a live performance from Latin superstar Beto Cuevas. Award presenters for the ‘Estrellas por la Vida’ gala included stars Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens, Wilmer Valderrama.
